Gro Baby Diapers

Well after researching for weeks I finally decided to try a cloth diaper on my pooping Princess. I received my Gro Baby diapers in the mail yesterday. They are extremely soft and seem very easy to use. If you are interested, check out this link:

Here is Elise sporting the blackberry diaper. The one thing I was worried about was extra bulk with cloth diapers, but she wore jeans this morning and they fit just like they normally do.

Baby Items of the Week

Well I've been meaning to create a post that reviews and recommends for or against baby items... but she has so many that it seems like quite a daunting task! So, I'm going to pick a few to do each week.

Grandma's Spot Cleaner
I found this at Bed Bath and Beyond for $3.99 and it is worth every penny! You know by now that my sweet daughter likes to poop... and this is the ONLY thing that has gotten all the poop out of her clothes on the first try. I'm planning to buy it as part of baby gifts from now on.


Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo
This is her favorite toy right now. She just discovered this week that she can actually jump in it, and she is having so much fun! I think it has also helped her balance when she is sitting on her own. I started putting her in it around 4 months old. I would also recommend looking at craigslist.org, garage sales, or friends with grown kids to buy this. You can put the seat in the wash and I just wiped all the toys down with clorox cleaning wipes. You can get it at Walmart for $80 or used for $30-40. I'm not sure if you can tell, but both of her feet are off the ground in this picture.


Aden + Anais Muslin Blankets

These are WONDERFUL for swaddling babies in warm weather or after they can bust out of the normal blankets. I even use them now on the floor. They measure 47 inches by 47 inches, so they are a great size. I couldn't find a picture of her swaddled in one, but it is underneath her in this picture (around 2 months old, I think). They make lots of cute colors and patterns. I haven't found a local place that sells them, so I ordered them online. They come in a pack of 4 for around $40-$45. This is also a great baby gift.

... jury duty? Hehe. I got the summons in the mail today and immediately thought "I think I can get out of this since I'm taking care of Elise..." only to realize that it was addressed to Mike! Hmm, maybe the City of Harker Heights will spring for a plane ticket?

Happy Father's Day!

Dear Daddy,

Mommy and I can't believe that it has only been 2 months since you left. I have changed in so many ways. I love to stare at my hands, roll around the room, laugh with Mommy, and talk to my toys. I get so excited when I try to grab things, even though my hand-eye coordination isn't quite there. Mommy's hair is really fun to play with. I love watching Boss run around the room. I smile at him when he comes up to sniff me. Mommy thinks it is so funny that I laugh when I fall over from sitting up. I take two really good naps every day and still sleep 12 hours at night. Mommy had to put the bumpers back in my crib because I kept rolling around and getting my legs stuck between the slats. I am a big flirt and will grin at anyone who pays attention to me. You better watch out... I'll be a teenager in no time. I understand that I am supposed to smile when Mommy holds the silver rectangular prism in front of her face. I haven't quite learned my letters and numbers yet, but I'll work on that for next year. Happy 1st Father's Day! I can't wait to play with you again.

She sits!

I am so proud of Elise... she can sit up on her own! She still wobbles but is able to balance herself most of the time. If she falls over, she immediately starts smiling and laughing.




I can't believe that she will be 5 months old next week! I am very behind on blogging... we've had several girlfriend reunions this month and I will post about them next week. For now, here is a tease...

White Noise Machine

I just have to share about the white noise machine that I just bought for Elise. She had a crazy 4 month growth spurt (2 1/2 weeks of eating more often during the day and waking once at night to eat). I thought I was going to go crazy after having lost the fabulous schedule and routine that I had worked so hard to get! Anyway, during that time I ordered the Marpac SleepMate 980A and it came a few days ago. She was already back to normal and sleeping well again when I got it. However, I've noticed that she falls asleep faster for naps and at night than she did with just silence. I try to always lay her down while she is still awake. A bonus... I can hear it over the monitor and I have slept really well the last few nights! Since Mike left I hadn't been sleeping as well... same thing happened during the last deployment. Anyway, at $50 it's kinda pricey for a little box but I would buy it again... wish I would have had it from the beginning.

Now, if they only made a machine that would chill, retrieve, and hold teething rings in place, I would be set! Here is a recent picture of my teething beauty. She's 4 1/2 months old and nearly 17 lbs and 27 inches.


And just in case you are keeping up with the score, I believe it is now Supremes 9, Elise 2. We had two lovely "accidents" during our weekend trip to Dallas. Pictures and stories to come soon (of the trip, not the poops...)!

Update

Because I know you are dying for the news... the score is Huggies Supremes 6, Elise 0! Why, oh why, did I not try these 4 MONTHS AGO?!?! Also, I love my new OiOi diaper bag/purse. I decided to keep the pink flowered one and it is fabulous!

Kids these days...

The following takes place between the hours of 8 pm and 9 am (sorry, I'm watching seasons of 24 right now and couldn't resist). So last night, I put Elise down to sleep around 8. Around 9, she woke herself up because somehow she turned 90 degrees and got her foot stuck between the bumper and crib rails. Mommy to the rescue, and she falls back asleep again. Around 11:30, she wakes herself up again. She's turned 180 degrees and flipped on her tummy! Apparently, she is too tired to roll herself back over. I put her on her back and she's asleep again. About the same time, I hear stirring in Boss's room... turns out he has decided it is time for bed and is already cuddled in his crate. Fast forward to 9am... I wake up to brightness outside. I always gauge what time it is by the amount of daylight that has filtered through the room. I went in to wake Elise up, and she's snoozing on her tummy. Why didn't that work last night at 11:30?
