Road Trip #2 - Washington DC

The day after our little jaunt to Harpers Ferry, WV (see previous post), my parents flew into DC and we got to spend some time with them during that week.  On Sunday after naps, Elise and I drove down to meet them at their hotel and have a dinner date.  She was so excited and couldn't stop talking about "going on a date to Washington DC to see Mimi and Pop".  While my dad worked in DC, my mom came back with us to spend a few days in Baltimore.  Mimi has the best "playing with toys" endurance that I have ever seen, and the kids loved having her here.  On Wednesday, we (me, Mimi, E, and J) loaded up and drove down to DC for a day of sightseeing followed by a short hotel room nap, swimming in the hotel pool, and dinner with Mimi and Pop.  Of course, neither child fell asleep in the car on the way home and they ended up getting in bed around 10 pm!  That is probably the latest they have EVER stayed up.  Therefore, Elise's preschool field trip on Thursday morning was a disaster, but a long nap and good night's sleep worked wonders and the kids were recharged for another round in DC on Friday after naps.  This time, Daddy got to go with us, and we had fun playing in the hotel room, followed by Mimi and Pop insisting on ordering room service and putting the kids to bed so that Mike and I could go on a date.  Thanks, Mimi and Pop!  We had a blast even though we got completely soaked in a rain storm.  The next morning, we did some more sightseeing on the mall and enjoyed a beautiful morning before heading back to Baltimore to take naps.
